Director, MS Program Informatics and Analytics
Dr. John Stufken holds a PhD in Mathematics (major Statistics) from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He joined UNCG in 2019 as founding Director of the MS program in Informatics and Analytics and Bank of America Professor of Excellence, with a tenure home in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. Prior to that, he was Coordinator for Statistics at Arizona State University (2014-2019), Head of the Department of Statistics at the University of Georgia (2003-2014), Program Director for Statistics at the National Science Foundation (2000-2003), Assistant, Associate and Full Professor of Statistics at Iowa State University (1988-2000) and Assistant Professor of Statistics at the University of Georgia (1986-1988). His primary research interest is in theoretical, computational and applied aspects of design of experiments. Besides long lists of publications in top journals and invited presentations, he served three-year periods as primary editor for the Journal of Statistical Planning and Inference (2004-2006) and The American Statistician (2009-2011). He is an Elected Fellow of both the American Statistical Association (2001) and the Institute of Mathematical Statistics (2000).
